Siskiyou Media Council
The Siskiyou Media Council (SMC) is excited to announce the opening of our new office and film studio located in Siskiyou County, in the city of Yreka! As proud host to both YCTV Channel 4 and MCTV Channel 15, the SMC is committed to serving the community by upgrading our programming with HD transmissions, by adding viewable access to both channels on our website, and by including more of what people want to watch: local news and sports, community interviews, educational programs, as well as up-to-date emergency and transportation information. We are also proud to be expanding our viewing public through posts to our YouTube channel, and Facebook page.
The SMC is a nonprofit 501c3 and relies heavily on tax deductible annual memberships and donations to continue to offer local residents and businesses access to community information, quality programming, broadcasting education, and public service announcements specific to Siskiyou County. By offering the public access to media production and broadcast for all Siskiyou County residents, together we can continue to give YOU a voice, a platform, and the information and support our community needs.
After all, successful participation in Siskiyou County life depends on reliable and comprehensive communication across challenging geographic and cultural divides. The Siskiyou Media Council seeks to address those challenges by enabling people across the county to stay informed about the issues that affect their quality of life, economic success, and community vitality, via the public access channels MCTV15 for Dunsmuir, Mt Shasta, and Weed, and YCTV4 for Yreka. These channels are broadcast on Northland Communications cable systems, and soon to be aired on our website! We also post selected content (including city council and planning commission meetings) on our YouTube channel and Facebook page.
Siskiyou Media Council is governed by By-laws reviewed annually by its Board of Directors. Parameters for volunteer participation and for use of the communication tools and studio facilities managed and operated by SMC have been established in the organization’s Operating Rules and Procedures.
